I'm supposed to review it one of these days. All I know is that it's got Don Johnson and a dog and one of them humps a lot of rump.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Tuesday, 25 November 2003 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah. It's totally bizarre.

harlan ellison hated the ending, but then he hates everything

I saw it years ago on video amid a post-high-school-summer Weidemann's haze. I remember it being very much in the vein of the typical '70s/'80s midnight movie (which it was); I don't remember being particularly impressed by it. My friend Kathy, the token girl in our little band of do-nothings, found it misogynistic, but not enough to get that worked up about.

Of course, she was hanging out with us, so her taste is suspect, in retrospect . . .

the clown makeup worn by the underground folk fvucked my head up good as a lad.

Not really a coherent or particularly engaging film, but with a share of appeal in terms of the sheer dazed oddity of the final quarter of it.

Tom May (Tom May), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

It was okay. Really a lot like Fallout, that computer game.

five years pass...

Wuz watching commentary on this the other night - direkdid by LQ Jones (peckinpah baddie) in a v. peckinpah style. Essentially the post-apocalyptic western bloody sam never made? Anyway if you are a PecknPaw fan the commentary on this is a goldmine of anecdotes..

Saw the movie projected in a hotel conference room at a SF convention around 1980. Hadn't realised that the ending was the director's - thought it was a typical bit of Ellison provocation!
