I saw this last night. It's pretty ludicrous and since I went expecting it to be pretty creepy because of the good reviews, I was disappointed because it's really tales from the darkside b-movie material. The performances are hammy beyond belief, especially John Tuturro, but it does have a sense of humour about itself and Depp is good so it just gets a passing grade from me. Just a warning: don't expect to be scared AT ALL.

also, if you can't see the ending coming after the first third, than I guess you've never seen ANY MOVIE EVER.

I didn't see the ending coming, but a) I don't watch enough movies and b) I missed the first 15 minutes

I saw the ending coming from the opening titles bit where the camera follows the lake and through the window and all around and then THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS!

It hasn't come out in England yet but i'm not suprised that you don't think its very good. I've read King's original story and i didn't like that very much although i hoped it would be better. Still King's stories don't fair very well on the big screen. For every Shining theres a dream catcher.

...major understatement.

True. When i saw dream catcher iwas so angry. it was like the director thought , "well i've read the book so lets change everything about it. That will really piss everyone of." It wasn't as if they had a better ending. Stupid special effects.
