I don't like how they're advertising it as "messed up", but it does look more thrilling than any movies i've seen recently. Thoughts?

it looks pretty messed up.

couldn't help it.

four weeks pass...
I watched the three trailers and the scene preview on the Punisher DVD at a friend's house. It looked interesting in the trailers, but the full scene preview makes me think it's going to be a piece of crap.

First off, it's a complete rip-off of "se7en", formalistically, stylistically, etc. only a cheapened version--replace the great morgan freeman with the mediocre danny glover, brad pitt with a little asian dude & the great kevin spacey with a pretentious puppet (whose "scary psycho" voice sounds more like a 15-year old goth dweeb making his first horror flick).

I love these types of films, so I wish I could be optimistic, but it just seems like a glorified film school project.

trading "the great" Kevin Spacey for a "pretentious puppet" all but confirms this movie will be better than Se7en.

I mean, I literally hate that obnoxious cunt.

Yes, but he often plays characters who are supposed to be smug and arrogant--he perfectly represents the hubris the hubris that eventually destroys them.

Anyhow, there's only room for one obnoxious cunt in Hollywood & that seat's already reserved for Vincent Gallo.

"the hubris the hubris"

apparently I'm type-stuttering today...

jay blanchard (jay blanchard), Monday, 13 September 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

it looks scary.

Vermont Girl (Vermont Girl), Monday, 13 September 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

the trailers definitely look scary (besides the "how messed up.." text), but the scene I viewed made it seem more silly than scary. It seemed like an unfunny outtake from one of the "Scary Movie" flicks.

jay blanchard (jay blanchard), Monday, 13 September 2004 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

The last of the three trailers was too much (in an "I don't believe it" way). With the bad guy coming up the elevator, Danny Glover says to his partner, "Let's hide, see what he does and then grab him. I want to see what he does." His partner is like, "Fuck that noise! I have an idea: Let's wait here for him to get off the elevator and then SHOOT HIM!"

Well, that was the gist of their conversation.

I mean, this is a serial killer who is clearly fucked in the head and they're not going to shoot him on site? Like, right away? COME ON!!

And, inevitably, there's another twisted, macabre scenerio that gets pushing into action because (I'd like to note) the killer wasn't SHOT AT right away! Ugh, I am disgusted.

Vermont Girl (Vermont Girl), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, the third one was the actual scene from the movie. I was literally yelling at my tv set "just shoot him! he's right in front of you, he's brutally killed several people, he's got a guy's head rigged up in between two friggin' power drills--SHOOT HIM!"

But no, that would only happen in a world of logic, or perhaps a good film. But in "Saw", you just let the psychopath continue with his poorly acted diatribe until he slashes you in the leg & run away...

Writers just keep getting more and more lazy by the minute.

brrr but that lockjaw thing is scary! fckng hell!

having said that, what is with this 'how messed up..' stuff?

piscesboy, Sunday, 26 September 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)
