Shall we talk about "Kinsey"?

This one certainly held my interest, if more for the fascinating life whose story it told than for the way it was told.

As the biopic has become the dregs of what are supposed to be "smart" films, this was actually one of the better biopics I've seen. Sure it still had the same dubious "That's it!" inspirational moments found in any other movie, but at least it didn't illustrate Kinsey "seeing his work in everything" by acting out his visualizations (as did Beautiful Mind, Frida, etc.)

I really could have done without the whole sped-up montage sequence that ended with the cartoon US map. Did the director imagine that, unless he found a way to cram thousands of interviews into the movie, the audience wouldn't actually get the fact that Kinsey's project was, like, really big and diverse?

Strong acting performances did a good bit of the work -- Liam Niesen (sp?) can make even a pretty stupid line sound intelligent.

I'd just like to point out that, due to protests, Kinsey will not be shown at any first-run theater in Bloomington, IN (where the film is set, of course). Please spread the word about this mind-blowingly stupid turn of events and let the Kerasotes theater chain (www.kerasotes.com) know what you think about them and their willingness to give in to what I'm sure is a group of 3 or so conservative pricks.

P.S. I live in Bloomington and am, therefore, unable to comment on the film.

Why do I feel like the conservative full court press is really nothing more than a wily PR stunt by the people responsible for Kinsey's hefty Oscar push?
