btw i saw red cliff pt 1, which was a movie with 3 huge bloody battles and 1 unbloody horsebirth, all of which were preposterous, but good preposterous, like grand operatic john woo preposterous, because that is who directed this.

the MILLIONS of cgi ships STRETCHING BEYOND THE HORIZON were badly preposterous but they werent given much screen time.

Oddly, i agree with the premise of this thread, whilst also believing 2008 was the weakest year ever for film/movies/cinema, so much so that I suspect that, by default, the best movie of the year probably was some corny big-budget b-movie.
