The films of Patrice Leconte

I saw Girl on the Bridge (La fille sur le Pont) last night.

What other Patrice Leconte movies should I see? Monsieur Hire seems the ideal place to start.

i haven't seen monieur hire (unless it's just that i'm institutionalized by the translated titles), but i'm a big fan of the hairdresser's husband. l'homme du train is great, too, charming in exactly the same way as autiel is in the girl on the bridge (which is so funny; wondering whether to argue when neither party understands); there's a whole school of jeunet-esque quirky european filmmaking, but he has his own sardonic style i think. i tend to dismiss them as being a little light sometimes, but they hold up pretty well.

there were a couple of weird forays into bland erotica recently that i've seen and forgotten, but someone i know saw the last picture, my best friend?, maybe?, and said it was pretty funny.

Yeah, I wanted the hairdresser's husband next, but not available yet @ netflix.

i mostly feel the same way you do about about leconte's style.

l'homme du train will be added. thanks.

three years pass...

monsieur hire felt a bit like a red shoe diaries ep minus the softcore scenes; the story is strong tho (simenon novel) & the end does hit fairly hard & tragic
