Actually their ticketing system (sic) has been a pain in the past.

I was trying not to think about it, but thanks for the link anyway.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:13 (twenty years ago)

This would be my first year going, so I was a little nervous about getting tickets, etc. At this point, it's probably nothing short of impossible to get into 2046, huh?

Anthony (Anthony F), Thursday, 14 April 2005 13:16 (twenty years ago)

It's "Door Only" (see the online menu), so if you go early and line up ... It's opening in August.

"Aaltra" looks good.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 14 April 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

yeah, that one grabbed me too. if there really is a nexus between kaurismaki, tati, and the farrellys, i'd like to move there.

on the other hand, 9 songs... ehhhhh.

a spectator bird (a spectator bird), Thursday, 14 April 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

I'll try to go to the Amir Naderi film too, I saw a Reade retro of his in Sept 2001.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

I got tix for Aaltra, Midwinter's Night Dream, Sounds Barrier and Come Back, Africa.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 18 April 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

Amazingly, there's still tix for one screening of this doc (David Thomson went apeshit over it), so I guess I'm off to get one for that too:

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 21 April 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)

Doctor M, on my way home from work I keep seeing these filmgoers coming into Tribeca and they all are the same - a man wearing sports jacket over black turtleneck accompanied by his trophy wife or girlfriend. So I gotta ask you- are you bringing a beard with you to the fliX0rs?

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 22 April 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

I am not.

However, I'm pretty sure I passed Sharon Stone yesterday on my way into Midwinter's Night Dream.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 23 April 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

eleven months pass...
This year's slate is up. No basis for choosing films yet ... there are a handful of music documentary features, on Wu Tang, The Pixies reunion, Luna.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 6 April 2006 19:13 (nineteen years ago)

Also; My Dad is 100 Years Old!!!

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Thursday, 6 April 2006 19:45 (nineteen years ago)

And new-ish Chris Marker.

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Thursday, 6 April 2006 19:47 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, Maddin is a 15-m short tho, w/ RR's Flowers of St Francis.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 6 April 2006 20:23 (nineteen years ago)

I'm happier paying $12 or whatever for a 15-min. Guy Maddin short than the majority of the competition stuff that tends to play @ Tribeca.

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Thursday, 6 April 2006 20:27 (nineteen years ago)

True nuff. I wonder if Isabella will show up at any of those screenings, like the Lincoln Square one.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 7 April 2006 12:55 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...
anyone goin to Passio?

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 26 April 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

Oh wow, that looks great. The only thing I decided to cough up 18 bucks for is Still Life.

C0L1N B..., Thursday, 26 April 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

that doesn't hv a US release date yet? It's likely the only one I'd do the same for.

Dr Morbius, Friday, 27 April 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

It looks like the print source is Memento, which is French, so I guess it doesn't have US distro yet. All of Jia's films since Platform have gotten a release here, so I'd be suprised this one didn't but you never know.

C0L1N B..., Saturday, 28 April 2007 18:33 (eighteen years ago)

got my Passio for Sunday @3

Dr Morbius, Saturday, 28 April 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

we had to wait until de Niro and his wife arrived.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

Robert de Niro kept you waiting... talking Italian?

James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know what he was doing.

Don't expect a DVD -- or a general release -- of Passio.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 14:27 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, Still Life was great (and it looks like New Yorker is distributing it) and may be Jia's best yet--it's certainly the best since Platform. There are a few weird missteps--I couldn't figure out what purpose the dispersal of the titles throughout the film served, and some of the sort of magical realism moments didn't work as well as others--but it's far more self-contained and focused than anything he's produced yet.

C0L1N B..., Saturday, 5 May 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

cool. Ran into a friend yesterday who said she might've been able to get me a free fest pass, but I may not have gone to more than 3-4 things even if so.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 7 May 2007 14:20 (eighteen years ago)

six years pass...

Tix on sale to the general public now. I bought one for Ira Sachs' new one, w/ John Lithgow and Alfred Molina as a longtime NYC couple. Can wait for the few other titles I'm interested... that 56-minute Tsai film (which is online anyway?) and Kelly Reichardt's Night Moves, I might get on rush lines for.
