Hal Hartley S/D

I just watched Henry Fool, which I didn't love, but it has its charms. If that film is anything to go by, Hartley's a much better writer than director. But I really want to see The Girl From Monday, so I'd like to get a little more familiar with Hartley's work before I do. Where do I go from here?

simple men, trust, theory of achievement, surviving desire, in that order

simple men definitely at the top, then a few hanging around just under that, then a few stinkers (henry fool, flirt). need to see the girl from monday.
i think i'm one of the few people i know who actually really enjoyed no such thing. i'd rate it in the upper 2/3 of his stuff at least.

Who else despise Hal Hartley?

"henry fool" and "flirt" are not stinkers. the only stinkers i can think of are the latest one, sadly, and "kimono."

I NEVER...oh wait, i did. well, i'll take hartley's (what i called) stinkers most days over other stuff by other people. too bad about the newest. i'll have to check it out soon.
