Some great stuff The Lady Eve and The More The Merrier featuring two great actresses, Barbara Stanwyck and Jean Arthur.

I meant TCM of course.

This board is small enough that we could actually fix spelling mistakes, if the Mods still came here.

"I could take that mug with a deck of visiting cards."

The Lady Eve never lets me down.

It slows all the boards down when you fix a spelling mistake.

That quote doesn't immediately make sense.

But surely upon reflection it does make sense, at least to a man of your intelligence, Chris. Or did you need the existence of the other thread on ILE to figure it out?

And how about this quote:
"What's hair to a skirt? I used to go with a little Eskimo dame..."

This last of course was said not by Charles Coburn but of course by William Demarest, in the role of Ambrose "Muggsy" Murgatroyd.

If you have all the Celebrities at Their Worst CDs, Coburn tells a brilliant dirty joke on it.

Just saw him in a mediocre Jack Benny comedy, George Washington Slept Here, but it was fun watching him and JB play off each other.

I fell asleep before that one. Actually I nodded off during The Devil And Miss Jones. Much as I like Jean Arthur and Chuck C. I never can get into that movie, it seems too heavy-handed.
