I saw LCR at Film Forum when it was re-released, liked it mildly, and don't remember a damn thing about it (Yves Montand?).

Both of these are great movies, but The Thin Red Line is one of the greatest war movies ever made whereas Le Cercle Rouge is just one of nearly a dozen amazing heist films starring Delon.

I like his "normal" movies too, but Le Samouri, Un Flic, Purple Noon, Any Number Can Win, etc, are still my favs of his.
