(wonders how long latest attempt to revive ILF will last)

why are we comparing these two? the word "red"? fair enough.

TTRL. Le Cercle Rouge is kinda dull.

jeez, Redd Harvest. Cynical much?

adamrl (nordicskilla), Monday, 23 January 2006 17:52 (nineteen years ago)

This isn't an "attempt" at anything. I just wanna talk about movies w/people!

TTRL. The scene/s of the American army advancing over the tall grass-covered hill is/are simultaneously both serene and tense. The wind rustling the grass, so peaceful, but the grass hides the enemy.

Le Cercle Rouge

Both are great, obviously - though very different. But both are movies one could watch again and again. I guess I get more out of The Thin Red Line - it's certainly more ambitious.

Red Dragon vs. Red Lights.

I saw TTRL twice in theaters and once at home, and think it's Malick's best film.

I saw LCR at Film Forum when it was re-released, liked it mildly, and don't remember a damn thing about it (Yves Montand?).

ALAIN DELON!

Both of these are great movies, but The Thin Red Line is one of the greatest war movies ever made whereas Le Cercle Rouge is just one of nearly a dozen amazing heist films starring Delon.

Thanks to Adam's sharp eyes I am going to get to see the Sicilian Clan (SUBTITLED AND UNCUT) for the first time at the Yerba Buena Center a week from Wednesday. SO EXCITED!

ALAIN DELON!

I prefer Delon's non-heist roles, like The Leopard and Mr Klein.

Where is the love for Rocco And His Brothers?

Redd Harvest (Ken L), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

Where's the love for Girl On A Motorcycle. . . haha okay nevermind.

I like his "normal" movies too, but Le Samouri, Un Flic, Purple Noon, Any Number Can Win, etc, are still my favs of his.
