Holy squirrel cages! A Batman film thread

I'm not sure about the original Tim Burton, the scene where Joker and Co. vandalize the art museum seems so 80s in a bad way. So by default, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm wins by default.

Mark Hamill is the best Joker evah!

I suspect I'm one of the few people on earth who's actually seen the original Batman movie, with the cast of the tv show.

Batman Returns must be the sickest, most twisted big budget flick ever made, so I've got to stick up for that one.

I've seen the sixties one (its on TV a fair bit in the UK) and its easily the best for laffs and action. The mixing of the dehydrated UN leaders at the end becoming a polemic for understanding is classic.

I used to watch the sixties movie all the time as a kid! The fight on the submarine has got to be the campiest fight scene ever, just classic.

Has anyone seen this Batman movie? Looks decidely non-canon...

I had the 1966 Batman film on video. In fact I probably still have it, but I don't know where it might be. It was fun, if I recall, but not exactly good.

I love unauthorized Third World ripoffs of First World franchises. Has anyone seen Turkish Star Wars?

I haven't seen Turkish Star Wars but I have read a brilliant article on it by Seanbaby which can be accessed via this page. It also has Brazilian Star Wars where the action centers around some tramps.

I'm afraid to see Burton's batman again. I loved it when it came out (I was like 8, so duhhh....) and in hindsight it seems unbearably wack, especially since the gothic element was so influential its freshness is now pure cliche.

Has anyone else seen Mask of the Phantasm? B-list guest voices, but not wanting for ability: Dana Delaney, Abe Vigoda, Stacy Keach, and the aforementioned Mark Hamill. It even borrows a scene from Akira, what is not to love.

I loved the animated series that Hamill was on, is it basically a movie length version of that?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Yup, made by the TAS folx, though story-wise, it's in its own universe (and plays havoc with Bat's origin myth!).

i have the turkish wizard of oz. it's a pretty good time, even though it's untranslated.
