Salesman

I finally got to see the Maysles' brothers "Salesman" and boy, it was great. Starched shirts, chainsmoking, crisp black and white photography. I could totally see Mamet watching this before writing Glengarry Glen Ross or even imagine Harry Dean Stanton playing one of these guys.

Do you like Salesman?

I got this for Christmas, and I loved it! It was depressing and genius...

one month passes...
One of my favorites. The look & feel also influenced Resevoir Dogs. Has anyone seen the other Maysle Bros films, like Grey Gardens & Gimme Shelter?

no, it's still in print. not sure why netflix doesn't have it; you could try requesting it (although that's certainly never worked for me).

three years pass...

what a great movie. pretty depressing combination of super aggressive sales politics and the loneliest, most self defeating kind of capitalist individualism. Even the people they're selling to seem to pity them!

four years pass...

^^

Rescreened last week and it seems like this film is more relevant than ever.
