Anyone following Sundance this year? Thin sounds really good, as does The Science of Sleep. I've been following the festival at -- plug alert -- the flavorpill Sundance blog, which has been really good!

I didn't know that you still flavored the pills.

I haven't been following Sundance but I should. My co-worker's wife has her debut feature there this year.

my co-worker has HIS debut feature there!

you have a coworker who has a wife who does films? you should have an affair with her.

This would not be a good idea. This is "the other British guy".

phantasy bear (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 23:31 (nineteen years ago)

that guy sucks

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 23:32 (nineteen years ago)

There is only room for one British guy in any American office. I'm surprised they haven't fired one of you.

Hahah, actually it looks like they're hiring a third...

phantasy bear (nordicskilla), Thursday, 26 January 2006 00:07 (nineteen years ago)

Oh shit you are fucked.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 26 January 2006 00:08 (nineteen years ago)

if they hire another you can do an adorable beatles tribute act for the next christmas party

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 26 January 2006 00:32 (nineteen years ago)

If they hire another I would start looking for apartments in Leeds cuz they are definitely moving operations to the UK.

I follow other film fest news (eg, Toronto) much more closely than Sundance, which seems to generate the most excitement over films that are just as crappy as big-studio stuff, just cheaper. I mean, did Chumscrubber from last year take the cinema world by storm? Pretty Persuasion? (not that I've seen either -- but I didn't WANT to after seeing the trailers)

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 26 January 2006 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

exception to above: documentaries, usually

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 26 January 2006 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

Pretty Persuasion was painful. I got suckered in by 'dark teen comedy,' Evan Rachel Wood and Ron Livingston.

Is there good buzz for Thank You For Smoking? I've been seeing the previews fairly often, it might be funny.

there seems to be. i desperately wanna see it -- i've always loved the book, and it seems impossible to screw up (the book is pretty much a screenplay).
