A major repertory series devoted to Ms. Huppert will be starting here in Houston next month. Having seen none of her work, which of the following films are worth seeing?

La Dentellière (The Lacemaker) Directed by Claude Goretta
Sauve qui peut (la vie) (Every Man for Himself) Directed by Jean-Luc Godard
Loulou Directed by Maurice Pialat
Coup de torchon (Clean Slate) Directed by Bertrand Tavernier
Entre nous (Between Us) Directed by Diane Kurys
Une affaire de femmes (Story of Women) Directed by Claude Chabrol
Madame Bovary Directed by Claude Chabrol
La Séparation (The Separation) Directed by Christian Vincent
La Cérémonie (The Ceremony) Directed by Claude Chabrol
Saint-Cyr (The King´s Daughters) Directed by Patricia Mazuy
La Vie promise (The Promised Life) Directed by Olivier Dahan
La Pianiste (The Piano Teacher) Directed by Michael Haneke

I'll probably take in Sauve qui peut, since I've never seen any post-Tout Va Bien pre-Notre Musique Godard, and much of the other films do look promising.

I love Coup de torchon.

Much as I like her, I think she's terrible in La Cérémonie.

Loulou & Entre Nous for me, but haven't seen a bunch of those. La Pianiste is wretched.

No 8 Women, eh? I quite liked La Cérémonie and La Pianiste. PS1 recently had a photo exhibit of her - young Isabelle, Isabelle from 2 years ago, Isabelle yesterday. It was strange walking into the room and being surrounded by so many images of her. Not unpleasant though.

TRG (TRG), Thursday, 13 April 2006 13:24 (nineteen years ago)

eight months pass...
Her 10-minute scene probing/guilt-tripping/confessing to her maid in the bathroom in Gabrielle is breathtaking.

What was the Benoît Jacquot film she was in? She was good in that too.

The Redd And The Blecch (Ken L), Wednesday, 10 January 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

Also in Chabrol's Merci pour le chocolat.
