has anyone seen this film? opinions? it's playing tomorrow and i'd like to go, but it's not at the greatest theatre. is it worth braving a sore rear end and a potentially crappy print?

Noël Burch loves this film, and raves about it in his book Praxis du cinéma--he writes, with the sort of hyperbole typical of his early writing, that it is "one of the few genuine masterpieces in the entire history of cinema." I've wanted to see this for a long time. If Burch's notes are correct it's only about an hour long -- so your rear shouldn't be too sore. Where you live Lauren? I'm curious where this is playing.

it's at the anthology film archives in nyc, which is why i'm hesitant. they have great programming but sometimes don't seem to care what kind of shape the prints are in, and at the risk of sounding like a grandma i find the seats hard on the tush (no pun intended). i'd feel like a jackass missing the chance to see it over such petty concerns, though, so i'll probably go.

You shouldn't. I miss ineresting events for the silliest reasons, like not wanting to get out of bed, all the time. Let's see if I can wake up tomorrow to see Platform at 1 PM.
