What are your favorite off beat comedies?

Lately, when going out to rent a film I am always stumped by the comedy section and am in need of some serious help. Just to give you a quick rundown of what my tastes are in comedy. I generally appreciate the off beat stuff, Monty Python, Hal Ashby, Charlie Kaufman scripts, some Woody Allen, Billy Wilder. I really would appreciate some help, I know that there is more great off beat comedy out there, but in the comedy section seems what I have to choose from is stuff geared towards teens or more of the gross out/slapstick, which I have no problem with it just doesnt appeal to me. What are your favorite off beat comedies ? I need laughter in my life right now.

not sure what you mean by offbeat. try Being There though. its a satire, but very funny and it cheers me up for some reason.
