I do love Almodovar's eighties films for their hysterical quality, but I think he reached true maturity only after Law of Desire. Having said that, I was a bit disappointed with Talk to Her, not because of the "controversial" subject matter, but because it felt uneven, even for a Pedro Almodovar film.

i think the early stuff was all a bit too eurotrash, fun but forgettable
and then he painted himself into a real corner with all the kitsch until i stopped watching. i didnt watch live flesh til it was on the telly last xmas. but after that i was straight down the curzon soho for talk to her.

I'd say that Talk to Her is the least uneven film of his I've seen, though I admit it's a little forced.
