Why do people call this the "Gone with the Wind" of France? Is it just because of the length or does it share alot of the same themes ?

probably just the length - maybe because the relationships play out over a long period of time in both films too. otherwise, there's no similarity.

I've been wanting to see it but have been deterred because of the length. Is there any other French or European films that you would compare it to ? Also, what it makes it so great in your opinion ?
