Saw this movie again on DVD. I saw it in a more mature less sleep deprived state and I can say that I really like this movie. The political tension, Buddhism-like motifs (like the selfless and fearless nature of Auund San Suu Kyi and the main character of this movie), the survival/action stuff, the amazing scenery, and mostly the depiction of the 8888 Uprising which led to 1000s of deaths during protests seems accurate enough to make me feel like I should be there fighting with them. but there was no fight just military Burmese people killing their own people protesting for The National League For Democracy. Aung San Suu Kyi, the hero of this democratic party, won a nobel peace prize in 1991 but is still under house arrest mostly because Burma is still under rule by military junta
