La Haine isn't last 10 years.

I need to see Indigènes, I guess that might be an answer here.

Film Comment is plugging Captain Achab. The critics here hated it, but all my film friends think it's solid.

The Witnesses is very very good.

Jacques Nolot's La chatte a deux tetes (known in English under the better, more direct title Porn Theatre) is the greatest film of this decade. Also, check out Honoré's Les chansons d'amour, a screen grab from which is currently my desktop pic.

Les chansons d'amour isn't *great* - it's not even good. it's a mess

REGULAR LOVERS.

some other possibilities:
Don't Touch the Axe
Notre Musique
Sauvage Innocence

I might need to see these again to know for sure, but the Rivette seems destined to grow on me

I have heard great things about La France

I wasn't at Cannes this year so I can't say whether the new Garrel is worth being on this list, but I'm optimistic...

I'll second Ne touche pas le hache, but I am a Rivette sucker. I'd have agreed on Regular Lovers after I saw it, but it's really faded from my memory, which isn't a good sign.

le pacte des loups

Sorry, "pacte des loups" was 2001. though if you liked that as much as I did, see "Vidoq" and "Arsene Lupin" as well. Haven't found a subtitled copy of "Belphégor - Le fantôme du Louvre" yet, but I'm up for it.

eleven months pass...

I saw Polisse last night, highly recommended. Like a 2-hr episode of the Wire, except in Paris following service people in the Child Protection Unit.
