No rotting in Woomera required this time. Hit 'New Answers' and post your pontifications here (and please behave yourselves!).

(To introduce a new thread, hit 'ask a question' and try to frame your 'starter' like a question, eg

'Is Steve Waugh Still Worth His Spot?' or

'When Was Stuart MacGill Last Worth Two Nobs Of Goats Droppings?')

The system here is fairly user-friendly but if you want to stay anonymous, you might need to set up another email address which doesn't give away any info about your real name, as your e-add shows up at the bottom of your posts, I don't know if it's meant to but it does ATM. Enjoy!

pieman, Tuesday, 11 November 2003 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Frank, congrats on being ILC's first correspondent.

G'day pieman, today on Rememberance Day lest we forget the nobbling of a perfectly good forum.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Frank Grimes (Frank Grimes), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

YeeHaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Finally, somewhere to talk.

Thanks Freddy.

(And good work yesterday.)

Fred,
is there a way to configure this messageboard so that it 'acts' like the old ABC one used to do? Esp. with regards to seeing a display of the most recent messages in any thread.

*That* might get the stubborn ones to come over from the ABC. & Nath's new one...

Poseiden (Poseiden), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, the Blog view seems to be pretty close for that. Now all we need is for some bright spark to put it in a frame on the LHS and we could keep the feel the same.

And (probably in the near future) someone to moderate it ;-)

Poseiden (Poseiden), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 07:19 (twenty-one years ago)

a quiet, Elliott-like start Fred, with bigger things in store tomorrow hopefully. Well done.

Frank, you beat me.

pieman (pieman), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

A very cheeky e-mail addy, taily.

pieman (pieman), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

*shrugs*

Something of a Hadlee, perhaps, but it gives me pleasure . . .

( . . . and you should see some of the others)

'is there a way to configure this messageboard so that it 'acts' like the old ABC one used to do? Esp. with regards to seeing a display of the most recent messages in any thread.'

If you hit 'New Answers' you will see a list of threads in order of most recent contribution.

To start a new thread go to 'Ask a Question'.

Testing.

Hi all :-)

Big Dog (Big Dog), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 08:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi BD.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I think this will work. It's so much faster than Nath's and C4. :-)

Now to spread the word . . .

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

"I think this will work. It's so much faster than Nath's and C4. :-)"

If I wanted to make it faster, I'd have to take out all the pics etc...

Cleavy, Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the pics & C4 can be bloody slow at times.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Pics - good.

Speed - bad.

Sometimes are slower than others. Tonight has been a shocker, but C4 is even worse.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

The speed (or lack thereof) of C4 and the format just kill me. I can't even get on to Nath's thing. Just get a blank screen. All this place needs now is the ravings of OP.

Dominic Stefanson (powwow), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Fred is this a forum you have set up? I'm not quite following.
The one thing that would be good is view by time thing. I just noticed that someone said the blog view does that, so I'll give it a go.

I wrote somewhere that whoever was steerting this shit ... that I can assure you was a typo and was meant to be whoever is steering this ship.

powwow (powwow), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Adeliade?????

powwow, what kind of educational establishment do you attend, that can't even spell its own name properly on its own web addresses?

I set up the board as part of I Love Everything (ILX), where I have been posting on their main discussion site for over a year. I have some responsibility to the site owners re moderation and suchlike. I'm not sure how much more I can tell you, but suggest you might go exploring round the ILX site (ILXor.com, top right of page).

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

No updates on ABC Forum since 4.00 yesterday afternoon. Is it now officially Pharlapped?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 13 November 2003 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

It's back- but completely useless.
Still, the old forumers are persisting with it as if by patronising it they can will it to return.

The old mucker has been split/spoilt forever.

Poseiden (Poseiden), Thursday, 13 November 2003 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep trying, Fred, but the ABC obviously don't give a rat's.

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 13 November 2003 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I sent a post regarding the lack of updates (mildly criticising the ABC) & it never appeared. Substitute moderation for censorship. I'm now of an opinion that the ABC are just looking for an excuse to shut the whole thing down. What pisses me off the most is that other irrelevant forums like scribbly gum are unaffected & users of that forum can post whatever old tosh they want.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Thursday, 13 November 2003 07:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't know why they bothered with the two stage thing. It would have been simpler to amalgamate all the sports forums into one pre-moderated useless mess to begin with. Anyone with half a brain cell could have seen what would happen with the current system.

. . . longer waits, fewer posts, less time in by moderators, longer waits, fewer posts, etc. Don't know why anyone bothers. :-(

Oh, BTW - the Science forums (inc. Scribbly) are operated by a different mob. They may even be at least partially privately funded - at least that's the impression I got.

Suppose we could always nip into Scribbly late at night and use their chat thread when no-one's looking - there's hardly ever anyone there at night.

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 13 November 2003 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

part of me really wishes this had taken off
