At least Punter will have more sense than to let Magoo near the ball on a run-chase. Hope Bix has tought him everything he needs to know about oranges and the cutting thereof . .

Symonds or Martyn?Warne or MacGill? Two spinners or one?If two spinners, Lee or Kaspo.
I'd play Symonds at 6 and mover Lehmann and Kato up and Martyn out. Ponting clearly wants Symonds in and there is no point selecting a batsman and then playing him at 8, so Marto must be out.
Two leg-spinners is unbalanced, so I'm afraid MacGill is probably out. I'm not sure what they should do with Hogg. There are already quite a few part-time spinning options in the team, but playing three quicks might be a wasted player. Hard. NOntheless I think Kaspo deserves a spot ahead of Lee. He has totally out bowled him in the ODIs.

but agree with your points, powwow. No need for Lee as Williams could do a similar role, except more accurately

What a fielding side, in fact - Symonds, Ponting, Williams . . . Hayden and Warne in slips . . . Pity it probably won't happen, though.

The current bunch of selectors have proven to be very good at picking players, but way too slow in dropping players. In retrospect the choice of Katich has proved rather inspired, but the Waughs, especially Mark were kept too long.
