Is Punter boofing Symo or what? First he gets a gig in the test side ahead of Dogscratch who played so well against the spinners in Sydney and then he bowls Symo before Magilla on the first day and delays the new ball for ever while he bowls his bum buddy and Boof Lehman.

WTF is going on here? Punter, this is not a one day international, it's a friggin test match. NOT HAPPY JAN. The 'tactics' served up at the mo does not give me much hope for the rest of the series and for our tour to India later on in the year.

MacDill is rubbish these days and shouldn't have been chosen in the first place. At least Symonds took a wicket, something the other bloke never threatened to do.

Katich? God alone knows what's going on there.

The omission of Katich is incomprehensible. I can just about understand the retention of Martyn, but selecting Symonds on ODI form? Crazy.

Martyn's was the only spot Symonds could take with any justification.

The selection of this team seems very compromised. Punter wanted Symmo and got him. The selectors couldn't decide which leggie was the best so put both in. Punter by barely bowling MacGilla has shown what he thinks about that particular selection.

Agree with the consternation over his handling of Roy - though the selection may pay off, remember how bad the decision was that got rid of him - but the fact that he bowled Magoo so little when defending a miserly total shows he has more sense than Waugh.

Look on the bright side, Warne has done enough in this first innings to ensure continued selection. If Magoo gets used equally little in the next innings, he may not be able to show anything and will be dumped.

We will then be rid of both Blee and Magoo. 2 down, just Marto to go.

It looks like Ponting might actually have a plan B, the one his predecessor never discovered. The approach to batting has completely changed in the second innings. The smash and demoralise failed, so they are justing trying to through the day.

Excellent point. I actually think most captains in Test cricket are not very adaptable. People rave about Fleming's captaincy and admittedly he has an excellent Plan A, especially against Australia, but when things go pear-shaped he has no idea what to do.

A bit happier today with the batsmen actually paying the track and the opposition some respect. However, we aren't out of the forest yet and that run out with less than ten overs left last night could prove to be a decisive event which shapes the destiny of this test match.
