Bowling batsmen

The talk is that if the pitch is green they will drop MacGill for Williams. If this happens, there is also talk that Symonds medium-pacers will no longer be needed and he will make way for Katich.

So Symonds was picked for his bowling. Katich himself was also first picked for his bowling. Roebuck made the point that it is very strange to select batsmen for their bowling. Surely you pick the best batsman, in this case clearly Katich, and bowling only comes into if the two batsmen are roughly equivelant.

Sounds fair enuff to me but I'm not a selector. Especially in a place like SL where batting is supposedly the more difficult part of the game.

Is there any radio coverage of this test? My old radio doesn't have station marks on it and I was blindly blundering about the dial last week trying in vain to find some commentary.

Don't tell me Aunty has forsaken her radio audience as well as her former online devotees?

regards,

REB

Aye Erik, so she has, the disloyal cow. You must make do with half-hourly updates and crocinfo.
