Succeeded in becomiing India's first triple centurion but by getting out for 309 failed by 82 runs to break Hayden's record.
Relief all round on C4 that Matt's name stays in the record book, on the grounds that it would have been 'inappropriate' for a 'flash in the pan' like Sehwag to have the honor.
This is a load of rot because we don't know the end of the Sehwag story yet. Lara's record innings was his second century in about his 14th Test, Sobers' his first in his 16th, Hutton's his third ton in still his first series. All of those blokes may thereafter have proceeded to become great, good or mediocre, and turned out to be great.
Occasionally I still wish I was still able to get onto C4 and put some perspective and balance amongst all the chip-shouldered ranting and self-righteous hogwash.
