Fred's speed and Nath's looks ...

Can we achieve this?

The best feature of this forum is the "New Answers" search which allows you to very quickly see which threads have been active since you last checked the day before ... Nath's is a bit unwieldy in that regard.

For posting during a game, IMHO, this forum may work better.

Comments ??

How about a trivia thread at some stage soon, convenient to a few? I have a question but not really the time to stay on-line until "after hours" ...

I actually prefer the look of this forum because it doesn't have people posting in color/bold/large fonts to make a point.
Don't like the animated graphics in Nath's either.

But that's just me.

All we need is to convince a few of the old heads to get over here and we might have something. It's quick and has a very similar feel to the old board- it would work perfectly for games and trivia. As I said in a previous thread, if we could tweak the colours and put some frames in with links, I think we could get something very close to the old ABC board. Just needs someone with a bit of HTML nouse to look at it. We could host any HTML on Nath's space.

Unfortunately though 4n20, I can't help you in the trivia department :-(

What do you mean, no bold? And what do you have against colour anyway?

:-)

ojitarian (ojitarian), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Sure, color in context is fine. Fancy graphics are open to abuse, that's all.
Can't wait 'til people start posting their own backgrounds and large fonts on threads.

;-)

I know what you mean. And my "colour" comment would have made more sense if I had used the correct attribute in the font tag. Ah well. :-)

I've been posting on the main ILX site (I Love Everything) and their music site for two years and this is the firsdt time I've seen a thread with a colored background. How did you do it?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 05:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Poseiden, I've no idea how but I know (because I've seen it) that on any ILX board you can post URLs that link up, and post pics. Might be worth checking the 'Problem?' and FAQ links below.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Fred, are you referring to the use of HTML tags? e.g. how about a link
to the deadest cricket
forum in town
?

(hope this works)

ojitarian (ojitarian), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Fred, to look at the use of HTML tags on these Messageboards, click on the RSS view at the bottom of this thread. It shows you the HTML Source.

Let's see if I can post the HTML tags here without them being gobbled:

"Nath's is a bit unwieldy in that regard"

fwiw, there's a small pic next to threads that have an unread post in them, AND there's a link to 'show new posts'... just have to know how to set things up.

This is simply faster than Nath's, and less thirsty on the download allowance.

I'd settle for it, if we could get enough people over here.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 07:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I like nath's forum. Its just a pity its so slow to refresh & the pop-ups are a pain, but the features are great. I agree that this forum would be better for posting during game calls though.
I'll continue to use both.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Thursday, 20 November 2003 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

My speed + Nath's looks?

Er....Ewan Chatfield? Ian Botham? Angus Fraser?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 20 November 2003 08:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah BD, I'll stick with both, and keeping dipping into c4 to keep up with skully and the rest of the mob. Which reminds me, wonder if VoRIZSGC2C has been banned yet . . .

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 20 November 2003 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Taily,
See his C4 Nazi thread at naths. Seems C4 has blocked ALL his tags but he's endevouring to suck up to them to let him back. Lol

Big Dog (Big Dog), Friday, 21 November 2003 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't think it'll work. From what I've seen, the c4 eds are notorious for not relenting on these things. As you probably know . . .
