Great session for SA.
Qld 3/69 at lunch on first day.

Love has not done his selection chances any good. Out for 30 odd to Davidson FFS.

This is probably Davo's first shield wicket for the season.

the billies have a mortgage on the wooden spoon

Billies in more trouble now. 5/119 off 50.1 (crabs). Stewie the Ass is still in, on 31. Blewey has the figures 7-3-4-2!

Does anyone know why Cleary isn't playing. I can only presume he is injured.

powwow (powwow), Thursday, 27 November 2003 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Not sure... he starred in the ING win, but I guess they needed to bring in another batsman (Fitzgerald) so it was probably a straight choice between him and Davison. Given the seam-friendly nature of the Gabba pitch, I'd have preferred Cleary.

ojitarian (ojitarian), Thursday, 27 November 2003 05:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Just realised the game is in Adelaide. Also, Davison now has 3 wickets. How stupid do I look now?

(Ans: pretty damn stupid.)

Billies or Bullies?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 27 November 2003 06:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Good comeback by Qld. Close to three hundred at stumps after Kaspo had some hearty swings.

oj.
just to make you feel a little sillier, it was Tiat who replaced Cleary in the the team. Cleary has had a good season so far.

powwow (powwow), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh heh. :-) Tait looked very good in the ING game and troubled the batsmen more than Cleary, so perhaps that's why they plumped for him. It's a bit of a worry that our front-line spinners are Higgs and Davo, and both have FC bowling averages well over 50...

ojitarian (ojitarian), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I gotta say, I often wonder why Higgs is in the team. He never seems to do mutch at all as far as I can see. The same has to be said about Dietz.

Davo smashes a few runs, but on the whole seems pretty hopeless in a four day game.

Cleary has taken a few 5 fors already this year. I have not seen Tait bowl, but on all reports he is very promising.

powwow (powwow), Thursday, 27 November 2003 08:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Higgs had a pretty good time with the bat last season, I think he averaged close to 50. That said, he's had a shocker this season and must be running out of time to make a decent score.

Ross (Ross), Thursday, 27 November 2003 09:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Higgs is definitely a batting all-rounder. Well, a batsman, anyway. Even Davo is more of a batsman than a bowler.
