NSW 1/1 after winning the toss & batting V the Vics at the ‘G.

1.3 Harvey to Mail, OUT: good ball jumps off a length batsman pushes with an angled bat and goes to third slip

Great decision by young Cam to open with Harvey instead of Wise.

Inness a late pullout with glandular fever. Harwood came in the 12, but was made 12th man.

Now 2/6!

3.6 Harvey to Jaques, OUT: pitches on the stumps straightens batsman
trying to play round his pads is nowhere near it (lbw)

Opening the bowling with Harvey would seem to be a worry in terms of the whole match. Just saw thw next message, apparently not.

Vics certainly stacked the batting. Elliott, Arnberger, Hodge, Moss, Hussey, Harvey, McDonald, White, Roach, Lewis and Wise.

Roach @ 9! Harvey, Moss and McDonald as the all-round seamers

"Vics certainly stacked the batting."

Pity the dudders didn't.

Or did they? ;-)

Double failure for Clarke. 'Too much one day cricket', Stacky said.

So far Hodge has only a single failure, and a big score or a vital contribution tomorrow may see him overtake Clarke in the race for Tugga's spot.

Marto, Haydos, NLWL, and Punter will obviously all go. I think Katich has done enough now to get a gig on the next tour. Lehmann will go if he is fit. Waugh of course is out. Bevan made another hundred today and might yet be selected ... especially if Lehmann is NOT fit. Two of this group Lehmann/Love/Hodge/Clarke/Bevan will go; anyway.

+ one Gilly, one Warne, a Magoo, and four fast bowlers ... presumably Gillespie, McGrath (depending on personal and wife's fitness), Bichel, Lee, and Bracken (Williams/Kasprowicz/Wright main 'shadows')

Martyn, Ponting, and Langer have all kept and could give Gilly a break
