Greetings Benno,

a coolie is a term of derision, it means 'An unskilled Asian laborer' [dictionary.com]. It can also mean slave. Not a good term to use towards our Indian visitors, or Indian Australians.

regards,

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, a 'coolie' is "an unskilled laborer or porter usually in or from the Far East hired for low or subsistence wages". So basicially, a lowlife scumbag.

Thanks for that, I honestly had no idea what it meant.

Not a great endorsement of the Australian kulcha, but really, what else would be expected by people forced to drink worst end.
