Rex O'Keeffe???

Overall I'm starting to find the O'Keeffe schtick a tad tiresome. Hasha Bhogle (if that's how it's spelt) is playing him off a break and KOK doesn't seem to realise it and that's one thing that mnakes him bearable, for the moment. I also had a giggle when he had a dig at PH over State bias just after lunch.

On Nath's forum I pointed out similarities KOK has with a mediocre player in another sport, cum noisy commentator with a few gimmicks, who became a kind of cult figure for the terminally stupid and easily amused: the AFL's Rex Hunt. Too long a bow?

Not at all Frederick. KOK is painfull in the extreme, and Harsha is definetely good value. The only reason KOK is tolerated at all is because is he still less painfull to listen to than Healy, Grieg, Taylor and Lawry and the endless marketing of their 'limited edition' frame ups.

And who is this Nicholas chap nine have foisted upon us? It's bad enough having to hear Pommy voices when they are here let alone when they are in Ceylon copping a towelling.

REB

REB, I don't mind Mark Nicholas - he calls a spade a spade, and doesn't mind not toeing the ChNein line.

As for KOK, by name and nature. If you can ignore his laugh, he isn't a bad commentator. Although I feel he would be better utilised on Nein so I can listen to the ABC all the time...

'If you can ignore his laugh, he isn't a bad commentator.'

Just like if you can ignore Lee's bowling, he's not a bad cricketer. Unfortunately the KOK 'Muttley' laugh has a cumulative effect. It wears my nerve endings down over time so it becomes harder and harder to ignore.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 5 January 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, KOK has got on my nerves already this morning.

But even for his annoying laugh, he doesn't spend his entire session behind the microphone mentioning the obvious in great detail, ala Lawry, Greig, Tubby Taylor and all...

It's a bit alarming when you turn the radio ON and the first thing you hear is the Muttley ...

*shrugs*

I still like him. Rather listen to him all day than Tawny Grigg et al.

Noticed at SCG that when Tawny, Heals & Warne came off the ground after the pitch report etc, Tawny actually stopped and signed autographs for the kids.

Now that is truly pathetic - can you imagine anyone really WANTING his autograph?

three weeks pass...
From the ABC site:

'Loved Kerri's comments throughout the tests. Can you compile a CD/TAPE of his humourous comments, especially his conversations with Harsha.
Any profits could go to a needy organisation(Like Kerri's wife!)
Keep up the good work
Jim'

This is the response I'd make, if I hadn't sworn off the 'All a Bloody Conspiracy' Forum:

Jim, go to your local computer hardware shop, buy a blank CD, take it out of its case and put it in the CD drive of your computer. The accumulated wit and wisdom of 'Kerri' (love the spelling, BTW) will then automatically appear on your screen.

At times he can be amusing Fred.

Not often, but about as often as the "comedy" shows on the commercial channels ...

But just imagine what it will be like next summer, without Harsha Bogle to leaven the grist . . .

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 29 January 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Harsha Bogle has been the media highlight of the summer, followed by Roebuck...each are great foils for karaoke (as HB pronounces his name)
