... or "Tugfest", as I like to think of it, is not exactly going
according to the script. Australia will lose this match by an innings
late on the fourth day. If they can somehow take it into the last day,
the weather may save them. Thunderstorms are forecast for Tuesday.

Kat could make a name for himself tomorrow. If we reach 450 and bat in the first innings past lunch, we're a show of drawing. Otherwise forget it.

Will the knives be out after this test?
How many of the quicks can be considered 'certainties' to go to the sub-continent to play on similar pitches against the same batting line-up after this display?

Will MacGill go after his efforts in this test? Martyn?

MacGill I hope.

Martyn needs to pull his socks up but I hope they don't ping him after only the one real failure ...

With the NSW-centric selection process, though, perhaps MacGill will continue and Martyn will go. :o(

Martyn has done bugger all for a couple of years now in tests. As number 4, he should be the premier batsman - instead he's a flat track pretty boy bully with no ticker...

Hard to disagree, Benno. His numbers for the last couple of years
look OK but I can think of very few good innings played when
Australia were in trouble. The 89 in NZ comes to mind, but not
much else. (and that was more than 2 years ago in any case)

He hasn't looked comfortable out there - he definitely doesn't like playing against the Indian spinners. He has to be up against it - the only thing that might save him is Tugga's retirement, as that will open up a place for Boof to return to. Perhaps Martyn will perform better back down the list at his preferred no. 6 position.

PS: I was there when Tugga played his last innings.
