Australia won the toss and are batting.
15 off Nehra's first over, 3x4 to Gilly

4 N1 1 4 . 4 . |

Poseiden (Poseiden), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

So far the bowlings not quite Nehra-nuff to International standard.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Khan Fred, you can do better than that...

Hoggy must feel a little unlucky to have been left out for Kaspa.

Poseiden (Poseiden), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

50 partnership up off 7.5 overs (RR 6.38)
Gilchrist 25* (28)
Hayden 21* (21)

Poseiden (Poseiden), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Here they go...
Recent Overs: 4 1 . . 1 2 | 4 1 L4 1 1 . | 4 4 . 6 . . | 2 4 .

Time for a bowling change methinks.

Poseiden (Poseiden), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

11.5 Khan to Gilchrist, FOUR, length ball on hte off, Gilchrist drives
cleanly through the line and the ball disappears back over the
bowler's head! Top shot to bring up 50!

Batsmen: R B 4s 6s S/R
AC Gilchrist (LHB) 52 43 8 1 120.93 Striker
ML Hayden (LHB) 32 31 3 0 103.23 Non-striker

Poseiden (Poseiden), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Perhaps Dravid should bowl and Nehra should keep.

pieman (pieman), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

So now we're the FTBB's ...

pieman (pieman), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

The 'piece of tail' (She-wag) is on.
V Sehwag 2-0-14-0

probably not for long...

Poseiden (Poseiden), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

will the dog wag the tail or the torso (upper order) wag the dog?

Aquarius (Aquarius), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Hayden run out for 44.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Gilchrist 78* off 70

Ponting 15* off 30

For once, I picked the right Trump. Probably the wrong top scorer, though.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone care to hazzard a guess at the total?
300+ is looking good at this stage.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Going on the "double at 30th over" rule, more like 350.

Which is possible, if we don't lose Johnnie. About time there was another ODI 200.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Not FTBBs. Not even very good against India.

Aquarius (Aquarius), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

DR Martyn not out 19 23 2 0

'bout time Marto did something useful

Aquarius (Aquarius), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

RT Ponting 59* (75b 3x6) DR Martyn 19* (23b 2x4)

Riveting stuff from Ponting, our future Test captain (yes I know it's a one-dayer, tailender). But he hasn't been on-fire all that often lately.

Aquarius (Aquarius), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

He's still there, honey. Still scoring. Still leading the team.

Still winning.

You didn't demand that Rigor Waughtis scored a big one every time he was at the crease, so why bitch about Punter having a slightly lean period?

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Batsmen: R B 4s 6s S/R
DR Martyn (RHB) 33 32 4 0 103.12 Striker
RT Ponting (RHB) 76 83 0 5 91.57 Non-striker

Five sixes, not bothering with fours. Riveting, indeed. I could watch this all night . . .

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

The Indian bowling is fourth-rate.

Aquarius (Aquarius), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

"I could watch this all night"... So why don't you? Good night.

Aquarius (Aquarius), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Definitely trump Jorja as the Queen of Irony.

Good night, honey. :-)

"The Indian bowling is fourth-rate."

Obviously must be, if Australians can score runs from it.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Good call to predict the 350. About time we really gave the Curry-Eaters some curry of our own.

I don't take back my comments about Ponting, though.

Aquarius (Aquarius), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

No reason why you should - he hasn't been at his best through the last few months, in Tests or ODIs.

Sure making up for it tonight, though, isn't he? :-)

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Just missed it, though:

Australia 347/2 (50.0 ov)
Australia RR: 6.94

Batsmen: R B 4s 6s S/R
DR Martyn (RHB) 60 49 8 0 122.45 Striker
RT Ponting (RHB) 108 103 1 7 104.85 Non-striker

Not too shabby . . .
Now to see what the bowlers can do with that sort of score to defend. Batting under the lights has proven to be a little difficult so far . . .

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

2000 runs and nine centuries for the calendar year, I'm sure Ponting is heartbroken with his recent form.

Ross (Ross), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

The correct spelling is we shag, not sehwag

pieman (pieman), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds like not a bad game up to the 40 over mark.
Ran outta batsmen then though.

Poseiden (Poseiden), Thursday, 13 November 2003 01:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone else notice a similarity between last night's game and the World Cup Final?

Poseiden (Poseiden), Thursday, 13 November 2003 03:13 (twenty-one years ago)

many similarities ...

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 13 November 2003 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

apart from it being as one-sided? No, none at all.

Aquarius (Aquarius), Thursday, 13 November 2003 05:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Erm, the fact that Punter got a century, Australia made almost exactly the same score, we lost the same amount of wickets, Punter and Marto upped the RR to score about 100 off the last ten overs, Nehra getting smashed to all parts of the ground...

India being soundly beaten by the 40th over...

Poseiden (Poseiden), Thursday, 13 November 2003 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

wot Nep sed

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 13 November 2003 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ditto
