the cardinals' lineup is a pretty hilarious mix of unintelligble reggaeton/ringtone rap (yadi, pujols, felipe lopez), country music (colby r, holliday, joe mather etc) & 90s teenager classics (ludwick has beastie boys & freese has pearl jam)

The Braves play a few snarky organ bars for visiting batters. A few heard this week:

Jose Reyes - "King of Pain" (injuries + "rey")
Jeff Francoeur - "These Foolish Things" (sentimental, unless theyre referencing his zone judgment)
Buster Posey - "Ring Around the Rosie"
Pat Burrell - "Cold as Ice" (the famed "no underwear" interview?)
Tim Lincecum - "Puff the Magic Dragon"

i think the Burrell jab is more directly a comment on his awful July.

Sometimes the music can get players in trouble. In 2002 when Manny Ramirez was with the Red Sox, he made a last-minute request, via a clubhouse employee, to have his song changed just before a game. The new cut was "Good Times (I Get High)" by Styles, which has drug-themed lyrics and profanity. Boston immediately changed its policy to prohibit spontaneous requests.

I added @MobbDeep "survival of the fittest" to the at-bat list yesterday. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm still considering a few more.

"New York got a ***** depressed."

I suggested the Pete Rock mix of PE's "Shut 'Em Down" and Nas' "It Ain't Hard to Tell." (He said he was looking for older hip-hop. Someone suggested "Game Over" by Lil' Flip. Another person suggested DJ Khaled.)

I can't believe I tweeted to an athlete.

1B Hee Seop Choi - Unknown Korean Rap Song

Info from the Florida Marlins: On opening day, Hee Seop showed up with a Korean rap song, and requested that it be played every time he went up to bat. The song has taken the Marlin fans by storm. The music guys have no clue who sings the song or what it says, but the crowd loves the tune ... and so does Hee Seop.

Two doses of Careless Whisper this at-bat, once before visit to mound and one after. And a wild pitch then moves up runner.

@susanslusser 13h
Well, Reddick did tell me today he thought maybe Careless Whisper might put pitchers to sleep.

The Dodgers reported the most Hip-Hop/Rap selections with 20. The Cubs were rather sparse with just two, and that’s only if we generously interpret the genre contributions of Marky Mark and his funky bunch. The Diamondbacks are the most country-focused team with 8 total selections, although Zack Greinke accounts for a quarter of those. The Nationals were the most metal team; the Oakland A’s the most rock and roll.
