YES dudes speculating on whether girardi getting thrown out has "fired up" the yanks - imo the five walks didn't hurt either

fman29.5 (k3vin k.), Sunday, 6 June 2010 19:43 (fourteen years ago) link

Cito intentionally walked Tex to get to Arod/Cano in one of the weirdest moves ever.

no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Sunday, 6 June 2010 20:05 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah i never understood that move, for one thing a-rod always seems to own in that situation, but (1) teixeira sucks atm (2) teixeira has bad numbers against that dude and (3) freaking cano was coming up next!

fman29.5 (k3vin k.), Sunday, 6 June 2010 20:13 (fourteen years ago) link

i'm guessing he was hoping for the double play at that point, with 1 out.

MMMMMMKay thinks "postseason hits should count in your career total," cuz guess who just got his 3000th (including postseason) hit?

what a colostomy bag.

awesome how 9 / yankees broadcast(ers) get david wright ads but SNY is running Jeter's Got an Edge nonstop.

sanskrit, Saturday, 19 June 2010 02:41 (fourteen years ago) link

jeter stats i'm not surprised to learn:

leads the league in swinging at the first pitch (37.3%)

k3vin k., Tuesday, 22 June 2010 02:10 (fourteen years ago) link

i say as he pops the first pitch to left field

k3vin k., Tuesday, 22 June 2010 02:10 (fourteen years ago) link

also wasn't surprised a few years ago when i discovered he led the league - by a large margin - in groundout-to-flyout ratio

k3vin k., Tuesday, 22 June 2010 02:11 (fourteen years ago) link

hooooly shit burnett wtf

k3vin k., Tuesday, 22 June 2010 02:24 (fourteen years ago) link

man against a team like this burnett will either strike out 12 or give up 3 homers in the first inning

sanskrit, Friday, 9 July 2010 00:17 (thirteen years ago) link

so i'm reading the Yanks are gonna ship out their catcher of the future to rent Cliff Lee?!

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 9 July 2010 15:55 (thirteen years ago) link

or apparently - they are NOT gonna do that.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 9 July 2010 15:56 (thirteen years ago) link

like 90% of scouts think he's not a catcher anyway

ciderpress, Friday, 9 July 2010 16:07 (thirteen years ago) link

and this is actually kinda a weird trade because of that...by trading montero the yankees are finally admitting that he can't catch, since he'd be an untradably good prospect if he was a catcher, especially now that mauer's locked up in MIN

essentially the mariners have to be happy with the idea of montero at 1B/DH to do this

ciderpress, Friday, 9 July 2010 16:22 (thirteen years ago) link

I was 110% sure the yankees were gonna move Montero for something this year.. Didnt think it was gonna be Cliff Lee, but there you go..

mayor jingleberries, Friday, 9 July 2010 16:33 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah montero definitely had no place on the yankees, its kinda funny that they have their first elite hitting prospect in ages and they have to trade him away

ciderpress, Friday, 9 July 2010 17:07 (thirteen years ago) link

'have to'

I can see Montero being a huge bust only because hes going to the Mariners. That and I tried to draft him as a keeper on my fantasy team, which turns gold into lead.

mayor jingleberries, Friday, 9 July 2010 17:16 (thirteen years ago) link

well he's closer to the majors in seattle than he was in NY so that can't be bad for his fantasy status

i guess he'll be hitting in a park that steals a few would-be home runs though since he's a RH hitter

ciderpress, Friday, 9 July 2010 17:28 (thirteen years ago) link

seriously, the mariners might as well send him straight to the big leagues. they can DH branyan if they want him to work on his 1B.

ciderpress, Friday, 9 July 2010 17:31 (thirteen years ago) link

also the yankees have a prospect behind him who isn't AS GOOD of a hitter but he's been hitting really well in the minors and can actually play the position

the resulting pussy stubble (J0rdan S.), Friday, 9 July 2010 17:33 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah romine is a legit good catching prospect now, so montero wasn't even their 'catcher of the future' anymore

ciderpress, Friday, 9 July 2010 17:34 (thirteen years ago) link

baseball's brokest team steals one from the richest. lee to rangers lol.

mayor jingleberries, Friday, 9 July 2010 21:05 (thirteen years ago) link
