With the right carom and throw, we could see a 7-3.

@FeinsandNYDN
Miguel Cabrera on what kind of challenge the Red Sox pitching staff presents: "I don't know. I'm tired."

why does morbs want me to die

u r not a masshole, sonny

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 12 October 2013 00:58 (eleven years ago)

I'm pulling for the Tigers to win but I think with Cabrera hurting and that scary bullpen I don't see them getting past Boston. I'm not so sure Boston isn't the most evenly talented team of the four left, they do the whole game pretty well.

earlnash, Saturday, 12 October 2013 16:18 (eleven years ago)

"a splendid old-school matchup"

1 P.3. Eternal (roxymuzak), Saturday, 12 October 2013 20:23 (eleven years ago)

if nothing else, each sox victory = more lolz at bobby valentine

mookieproof, Saturday, 12 October 2013 20:26 (eleven years ago)

‏@Buster_ESPN
Miguel Cabrera was killing the ball in batting practice tonight, rockets all over the place.

Uh huh.

Andy K, Saturday, 12 October 2013 23:03 (eleven years ago)

last time for Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.

Bee OK, Saturday, 12 October 2013 23:37 (eleven years ago)

Joe West up in this bitch.

Sanchez out of a small jam.

Good old Orval, back in the news.

that beard meme is even worse than the #bestfaninbaseball trend

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 13 October 2013 00:56 (eleven years ago)

'Anibal Sanchez became just the second pitcher to strike out four batters in one postseason inning'

Really surprised in didn't happen more.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 13 October 2013 01:08 (eleven years ago)

the hell was fielder talking to the plate ump about?

k3vin k., Sunday, 13 October 2013 02:09 (eleven years ago)

Pull him--no way I'd let him pitch to another batter.

clemenza, Sunday, 13 October 2013 02:37 (eleven years ago)

Worked out...I wouldn't have let him stay in there. The something-something's not even an issue, since he won't be there at the end anyway.

clemenza, Sunday, 13 October 2013 02:41 (eleven years ago)

He's got the bottom of the order in the next inning.

timellison, Sunday, 13 October 2013 02:43 (eleven years ago)

I don't know how solid Detroit's middle relief is, but I don't think I'd send him out. He looked like he was really laboring those last few batters.

clemenza, Sunday, 13 October 2013 02:52 (eleven years ago)

Joe West trollin' HARD tonight.

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 03:04 (eleven years ago)

oh a lefty facing cabrera, this will end well

k3vin k., Sunday, 13 October 2013 03:09 (eleven years ago)

see?

k3vin k., Sunday, 13 October 2013 03:09 (eleven years ago)

Not much talk from the Tigers fans who thought Peralta didn't deserve to be in the playoffs.

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 03:20 (eleven years ago)

Avila willingly battered behind the plate all year but won't let a pitch catch his jersey with the bases loaded. Damn reflexes.

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 03:23 (eleven years ago)

"Nooooooooo."

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 03:28 (eleven years ago)

Eight innings, eight balls put in play.

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 03:35 (eleven years ago)

(142 pitches.)

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 03:39 (eleven years ago)

k3vin k., Sunday, 13 October 2013 04:02 (eleven years ago)

I was going to ask about the two 1-0 games, but Joe Buck answered it before I got the chance.

Would've been ticked about the crowd shots if they hadn't been so hilarious.

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 04:14 (eleven years ago)

WOW

peepee, Sunday, 13 October 2013 04:19 (eleven years ago)

No, first time in the postseason.

First combination (near) no-hitter I've ever watched. I wanted to see it, though I didn't know who exactly I was rooting for.

clemenza, Sunday, 13 October 2013 04:19 (eleven years ago)

The biggest story was almost 12 LOB for Tigers, or 1-11 RISP.
Grateful for the rested Peralta.
Thankyou-50-game-suspension!

peepee, Sunday, 13 October 2013 04:21 (eleven years ago)

I was getting sick of FOX showing Boston fans instead of the game.

I think u r confused about what the only national stories in AL ball are, young man

(Stankee fans, Bosawx fans)

3:56 to play 1-0 game = new nadir

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 13 October 2013 07:56 (eleven years ago)

322 pitches

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 11:51 (eleven years ago)

According to Pitch F/X, West called five strikes out of the zone for both Sanchez and Lester. The two worst ones were in Lester's favor.

Andy K, Sunday, 13 October 2013 13:39 (eleven years ago)

Right near the beginning, you can see Cookie Lavagetto break up Bill Bevans' no-hitter in the ninth:

clemenza, Sunday, 13 October 2013 14:55 (eleven years ago)

Hmm that's quite the on-field celebration for 1947. Usually they'd just shake hands and run to the dugout after *winning* the WS.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 13 October 2013 15:54 (eleven years ago)

i don't like watching my two least favorite teams in each respective league playing baseball, no, why would i?

cause maybe you like the game of baseball not just baseball teams idk

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 12:46 (eleven years ago)

#lifehack only truly loathe one team (recommend yankees) then if they make the ws you can at least root against them and its still fun

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 12:47 (eleven years ago)

diamondbacks v yankees was def one of the series i liked best

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 12:48 (eleven years ago)

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 20 October 2013 12:52 (eleven years ago)

[i]Come on, you guys survived Yanks vs Phillies

Watched Game 1, said 'I can't do this,' stopped.

did u forget the phillies winning

Tampa Bay won the pennant, so that was a salve. (I had to look that up, so yes I have sort of forgotten.) Also rain-delay hilarity to make Selig look like an ass.

There'll be lotsa good ballgames on my computer in April, with no freezing.

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:11 (eleven years ago)

(actually I think I skipped all of Yanks-Phils, it was 1999 NYY-ATL where I watched one game.)

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:13 (eleven years ago)

obv no team's fans/"culture" are currently as awful as Boston's, but root for Cardinal "values" etc no thank you.

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:16 (eleven years ago)

no way boston has the best fan culture: beards, getting trashed and yelling shit in a boston accent

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:18 (eleven years ago)

whats not to love

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:18 (eleven years ago)

can't believe i've been hanging out with so many phils haters, ugh

乒乓, Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:19 (eleven years ago)

i know! its like when people say they hate philadelphia sports fans *glances over reading glasses* these people booed santa claus and kobe bryant, they are nothing short of heroic

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:21 (eleven years ago)

the only truly loathsome fan culture is the yankees cause thats just all stockbrokers from indiana talking about monument park

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:23 (eleven years ago)

Yankee fans go off the grid when they don't win

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:50 (eleven years ago)

easy ferry access to provincetown via Boston harbor

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 15:47 (eleven years ago)

sux bear week is right in the middle of the season, fake an injury maybe

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 15:50 (eleven years ago)

i am the same as morbs, i can't watch a sports game without a rooting interest, even if i'm just choosing one at random because i don't care about either team. if the result of the game is gonna piss me off either way why would i waste my time, enough things piss me off already, *pursue a beautiful life*

also i've never had anything against the phillies, they were my dad's team growing up and their fans at least own up to being assholes. and 2001 was a great WS! it ended in jeter crying.

^^ post obviously honoring and supporting Qualcomm (zachlyon), Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:02 (eleven years ago)

and i usually don't have a problem with the WS bc the cards are the only NL team i really don't like. wld have no problem rooting for any other NL team vs BOS or NYY.

i do like beltran and i love koji, maybe i'll watch some games for them

^^ post obviously honoring and supporting Qualcomm (zachlyon), Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:09 (eleven years ago)

Rooting for the Red Sox

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:21 (eleven years ago)

yeah i like baseball so there's have to be better reasons than "both teams are gross" to not watch the world series. seems like a weird position. i mean, a couple years ago i would have dreaded a lakers/celtics finals, but i still would have watched it

k3vin k., Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:33 (eleven years ago)

my concerns re sporting events where my fav team isnt playing

1. competitiveness
2. quality of play
3. style of play
10. is teams i dont like in it (does not apply to yankees or lakers who i root hard against which is fun and cool)

can usually find someone to root for even if im not into either team tho

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:38 (eleven years ago)

i know there are tons sports fans who feel different, so many super hardcore sox fans wont even watch the playoff if theyre not in it, which always seemed weird to me but hey free country

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:39 (eleven years ago)

i mean, i apologize for being annoying, i have nothing against any of u for liking teams i hate

^^ post obviously honoring and supporting Qualcomm (zachlyon), Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:50 (eleven years ago)

i know someone who is a snotty diehard sports fan who just hates every single team, player or "story" that comes out of espn, the only team i know he roots for is the bills, which means he also hates his own team, and it's tiresome and i just want to tell him "maybe you should just stop watching sports for a while"

^^ post obviously honoring and supporting Qualcomm (zachlyon), Sunday, 20 October 2013 16:52 (eleven years ago)

i do like beltran and i love koji, maybe i'll watch some games for them

This is how I invent my rooting interest when all else fails, I root for whichever team has the most players I like.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 20 October 2013 17:04 (eleven years ago)

lol oh man that is so sad

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 17:18 (eleven years ago)

i would probably never not watch the finals or world series, football i think is a dumb sport but i watch occasionally just because everyone else does, i'd totally skip out on the super bowl if i didn't care about either team but there are always fun parties and food associated with that

k3vin k., Sunday, 20 October 2013 17:48 (eleven years ago)

the superbowl is our greatest and most important american tradition you nasty bolshevik

the very worst team did okay tho

mookieproof, Sunday, 20 October 2013 22:55 (eleven years ago)

that double play where fielder belly flopped five feet short of third base was so funny and sad what was he doing

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 October 2013 23:31 (eleven years ago)

he was trying to induce obstruction from bogaerts tbf
