my observations of Cueto is, you can get to him in the first inning. if you give him the lead, i don't care how good the other team is, vs won't score on him.

Cueto is definitely a groove starter. I hate this style of baseball, but slowing things down and trying to make him wait is not a bad strategy as he likes to work quick. I've also seen him get so much movement, he gets a bit wild.

One thing about Cueto is that he is wicked on his pickoff move, especially for a righty. He's got a few different tricks there too.

How much do the Giants and Posey use pickoff moves from behind the plate?

not very often. he has done it more these days but not something Posey does.

i guess no-one wants to talk about the Giants taking two out of three from the (everyone in the media is picking them to win it all) Cubs.

was at the Cure show, so i only heard about it afterwards. Madbum is the man however.

Giants are a witch in a short series with the top of their rotation, that is for sure. Bumbgarner, Cueto and Shark would be a tough 1-3.

One thing I see in this Cubs club in a short series that I think could haunt in the playoffs is how much they strike out. I always thought that was a flaw in Torre's later clubs with the Yanks in the playoffs, they would run into a club with 1-2 top starters who would shut them down with swings and misses.

So last year the Giants were really really good at working counts and tiring pitchers, this has been a bit lost this season but it's one these things I could see popping back again because of player superstition and their mystical system of belief (even year, being hot, 'everything goes your way'. etc).

Speaking of which, I'm still 100% certain the Dodgers are winning this division.
