This team shot of the 1975 NL All Stars was really cool. Lots of cool players in that picture. Kinda neat to see a young Gary Carter in the front row. Look how big Greg Lusinski looks, he is a big beast next to Lou Brock and Bill Madlock.

(I guess his speech is marginally undermined by his words about Yawkey, but he was hardly alone there.)

i guess it's just recency bias (as in, i recently learned about it), but he seems to have really gone out of his way to fuck gil hodges over by refusing to let roy campanella (one of the HOF voters that year for the veteran's committee, I think) vote via phone, even though campanella was very ill and died a couple months later. campanella would have been the 12th and clinching vote.

Been reading up--didn't know that. I agree with him that Hodges was a weak candidate, but that does seem petty (not to mention not letting someone in a wheelchair vote by phone). Must be some decades-long grudge.
