"When Stennett had his big day, the Pirates beat the Cubs 22-0. That was a nine-run game as early as the first inning, so in the end, Stennett registered a Win Probability Added — WPA — of +0.082. Crawford registered a WPA of +1.438. He was essentially worth about a win and a half on his own. By regular numbers, Crawford had an impressive game. When you take context into account, Crawford had one of the very greatest days in baseball history."

what an epic collapse, 9 -21 since the all-star break.
mookieproof, are you going to send me an Oasis ballot? ;-)
― Bee OK, Thursday, 18 August 2016 01:15 (eight years ago) link
It’s an important start for Cain, since the Giants are discussing the possibility of skipping his next turn and using Monday’s day off to move up the rest of the rotation. As you know, Bochy and pitching coach Dave Righetti almost always prefer to give the starting pitchers an extra day. But skipping Cain would allow them to get Madison Bumgarner, Johnny Cueto and Matt Moore at Dodger Stadium – and one of the reasons they got Moore was to have another dependable lefty to combat the Dodgers’ left-leaning lineup.
now that he lost, i can see them skipping him. i would much rather have Pevey but he is not making 20 million...
