tbh Cabrera at 2b has been ok so far (small sample size though). Can Walker play 3B/SS? His injury is the one that bums me out the most at the moment.

Jonathan : I’ve been having an argument with my fellow disgruntled Mets fans. I believe literally anyone other than Conforto should be on the trading block in the right deal (including Thor, assuming market return based on a full recovery). I just don’t think you get another run like 2015 out of team built around young pitching due to injury volatility. What say you?
Dave Cameron: You listen on anyone, but I don’t think tearing it down to the bones is the right call. I’d move the rentals and then take another shot next year.
― Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 11 July 2017 17:40 (seven years ago) link
Yeah, so much of the starting position players will be gone next year that it will feel like a new team already. As long as the pitching bounces back they should be in contention.

The Mets activated second baseman Neil Walker from the 10-day disabled list today but were immediately hit with yet another dose of daunting injury news. New York announced that infielder T.J. Rivera is headed to the disabled list with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

btw Wright has started 'low-level' baseball activities :(
Are the Mets really considering picking up Asdrubal's option for 2018, or are they just trying to create (literally any) demand for him as a waiver trade candidate?
Eno SarrisDude's been worth $8.5 million every year save one in his career, really. And how much does a Mets fan hate having Asdrubal and Wilmer around Rosario going into the offseason anyway? Leaves you options -- if Wright retires, have a chunk of change for an infielder and guys you can move around. Or spend on a CF.

Reliever Hansel Robles was brought in for a tie game in the eighth inning. This, already, was something of a questionable decision for a fairly high-leverage moment, given that he’s been one of team’s weakest bullpen options this year—performing well below replacement level with an ERA north of 5.00. But Robles took the mound anyway, and for all of a few minutes, everything was fine. During the second batter of the inning, however, both Robles and catcher Travis d’Arnaud got hurt on the same pitch....But Robles’s day was just getting started. He was brought back out for the ninth, even though he isn’t typically given the chance to record more than three outs. He hit the first batter, Jonathan Lucroy, and watched him advance to second on a sac bunt. Manager Terry Collins then decided to intentionally walk Charlie Blackmon, only to watch Robles walk the bases full on the next batter. Now with a chance to make the very reasonable move of pulling his reliever—who had been doubled over in pain during the previous inning and was clearly struggling after loading the bases in the bottom of the ninth in a tie game—Collins apparently figured, eh, what’s the point, and just left him in. Nolan Arenado was the next batter. Robles walked him. The Mets lost, 5-4.Here’s a nice update about how Robles was feeling throughout that:Robles had numbness in fingers pitching the ninth. In the eighth he landed awkwardly and pinched his genitals, prompting Ray Ramirez visit.— Mike Puma (@NYPost_Mets) August 3, 2017And exactly how numb was he during this inning in which he walked or hit three of the four batters he faced?Robles said he felt numbness in his right hand in the 9th. Couldn't feel the ball. Did not share that with anyone until after game.— Marc Carig (@MarcCarig) August 3, 2017
