A few days back, Sandy Alderson said Robert Gsellman needed to pitch better during his rehab. Gsellman replied: “I don’t really care."— Marc Carig (@MarcCarig) August 16, 2017

@AnthonyDiComoAlderson says the roughly $9 million the Mets saved via trades is not "earmarked" for next season. But he believes payroll will be flexible.

Haven't read in detail about this -- surely Terry Collins didn't go to the ump every time the two infielders switched. So why wasn't it treated officially like a glorified shift?

With a shift the fielders are still standing in the same ordering ... maybe?
― NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 17 August 2017 14:20 (seven years ago) link
Collins had the players switch 22 times, and this strategy led to natural infielder Cabrera getting all the groundballs and d'Arnaud only having to handle one popup, which was hit by pinch-hitter Todd Frazier in the ninth inning.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi's reaction to this unusual strategy?
"I thought it was really smart on Terry's point," Girardi said. "D'Arnaud's never played the infield. So I think they were trying to give him the least amount of chances possible. He got one and he made it."

Moltar: Mets have already said that they are not making changes to their medical staff, training staff, or their partnership with Hospital for Special Services. If you were a free agent, would that alone scare you away from signing with the team? Would you take the Beltran route and only see private doctors? Eno Sarris: You know, I think their problem might actually be internal and communication related? How often is it just what they told us was a… fabrication? Does Terry Collins foster a clubhouse of communication and openness? Does the GM make sure that all players feel welcome to reveal what they are feeling without repercussion?

According to sources within the organization, the Mets are keen on the idea of bringing in someone they consider more technologically savvy and more fluent in analytical and sabermetrics: someone in the mold of the Cardinals Mike Matheny.

I think the DN writer is a bit confused about Matheny's skill set.
A Jacob deGrom stomach bug is forcing the Mets to shuffle their rotation, pushing the ace’s Friday start back to Sunday. Robert Gsellman will take the hill on Friday, with Matt Harvey going on Saturday.
