Yamamoto’s probably going to be fine but MLB hitters are much better than NPB and used to his pitch mix more I guess. Yoshida hit like Tony Gwynn for like half the year last year and then trailed off for a while when the schedule and travel got to him. Japanese players usually take a while to adjust. There was so much hype around this signing and nobody ever says the second part though it remains true: it takes time to adjust!

The Robbie Ray signing was all about 25 and 26, they didn't expect much of him for this year. Plus they traded away Mitch Haniger and Anthony DeSclafani in the deal, how is that not a win?
