as long as they count in the standings, you know which ones i can't be ambivalent towards.

Are they gonna have a throwback day where the Twins wear Senators uniforms?

Maltodextrin, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 03:53 (seventeen years ago)

They should! The Boston Braves and Cubs throwback uniforms at Wrigley for the WGN 60th anniversary game were awesome.

I don't know what else causes throwback days, though.

Red Sox - Phillies: seems like they go together somehow even if they never play each other
Blue Jays - Brewers: not a big deal, they played each other all the time before 94
Royals - Cardinals: annual I-70 series
Indians - Rockies: no history
A's - Diamondbacks: Dan Haren connection
Tigers - Giants: don't think they ever played in a world series
Astros - Orioles: no history whatsoever
Padres - Yankees: 98 series rematch
Cubs - Rays: no history, but two upstart teams doing well
Braves - Rangers: can't think of any history - Tom House?
Nats - Twins: ex-Senators
Pirates - Chisox: can't think of any history - Goose Gossage?
Mets - Angels: Nolan Ryan, Bobby Valentine
Marlins - Mariners: yuck.
Dodgers - Reds: the classic Game of the Week matchup

Padres - Yankees: 98 series rematch

RELIVE THE HISTORY

Also, Malto totally ignores the long-simmering Astros / Orioles feud inspired by (the O's unfortunately signing former Astro) Glenn Davis!

Dodgers - Reds: the classic Game of the Week matchup

Voted for Dodgers/Reds because I hate interleague play.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 23 June 2008 02:07 (seventeen years ago)

if AL teams sweep the Phils, more more more.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 23 June 2008 13:48 (seventeen years ago)

Given that the Tigers are 37-11 against NL teams from '06-today, I have to go with the homer option.

(Didn't hurt that it turned out to be an entertaining series.)

actually, dunno if anyone caught any of the cubs/rays series, but it was good. playoff atmosphere down in tampa.

diamondboxx, Monday, 23 June 2008 20:04 (seventeen years ago)

chicago kevin, Monday, 23 June 2008 20:35 (seventeen years ago)

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 23 June 2008 21:39 (seventeen years ago)

Duh just like they do in the PLAYOFFS!

what would anyone in san francisco know about PLAYOFFS??!?

chicago kevin, Monday, 23 June 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)

We have TV out here believe it or not. It's not all gay marriage and Chez Panisse.

Alex in SF, Monday, 23 June 2008 21:55 (seventeen years ago)

FTR: Alex is an A's fan.

SF hasn't been to the playoffs since 03. Same year as Bartman right?

Steve Shasta, Monday, 23 June 2008 22:14 (seventeen years ago)

Cubs made it to the playoffs last year though, didn't they? Where they were unceremoniously beaten like a drum by Arizona, IIRC.

Alex in SF, Monday, 23 June 2008 22:33 (seventeen years ago)
