On the NYC meeting agenda (at the NY Public Library on 42nd St & 5th):

Tyler Kepner, the national baseball writer for the New York Times since 2010, joined The Times in 2000 and covered the Mets for two seasons before covering the Yankees from 2002 to 2009.
Ed Randall, host of "Talking Baseball" on WFAN-Radio and "Remember When" on MLB Network Radio, was a minor league baseball play-by-play broadcaster and pinch-hit as the public address announcer at the original Yankee Stadium in 2008 for the legendary Bob Sheppard.
Former New York Met Art Shamsky and umpire Phil Cuzzi be will part of a panel as well. Shamsky also played with the Reds, Cubs, and A's and Cuzzi has umpired for 22 years.

As I am unable to attend next month's SABR convention in Pittsburgh -- of course, because it was the one I was most looking forward to in years -- I turn my lonely eyes to the Saberseminar in Boston, August 4-5. Not connected to SABR, more math and science, fewer celebrities, a larger concentration of writers and industry pros.
