Yeah, it's too bad so many of the kid Tiggers -- Ivan Rodriguez, Placido Polanco, Magglio Ordonez, Craig Monroe -- came up short when it mattered, especially against pitching titans like Jeff Weaver and Anthony Reyes. o_0

Rising to bait that ain't there, Morbs?
― David R., Tuesday, 2 September 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)
There are two reasons:
1) Red Bull (pitcher errors) 2) Several days off (lack of hitting)
Actually, there's a third reason
3) David Eckstein (German god of hustle)
― Andy K, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 20:54 (seventeen years ago)
That's higher than lord of hustle. Where does Fontenot fit in the hustle peerage?
A fun thread, and pleasingly in apocalyptic character for Dr. Morbius.
My brother bet on the Rays to win in Vegas a couple months ago.

Salomon Torres makes his picks:
Speaking to reporters after he suffered a blown save and the loss against the Reds on Monday night, Torres was asked whether the Brewers need to worry about their shrinking lead in the NL Wild Card standings. His answer, emphatically, was no."They are in the rearview mirror," Torres said of the Phillies, who entered Tuesday three games back of the Brewers. "If they were ahead, that's a different story. But we've still got the lead, so we cannot act like we are behind them. They need to worry, not us. And the Chicago Cubs, they need to worry, because we're going to get them. That's all I can say."
