A's 'opener' Liam Hendriks on how he prepared for tomorrow: "Walked around the city, went to the Met. That's about it."

— Bryan Hoch (@BryanHoch) October 2, 2018

mookieproof, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 20:14 (six years ago)

Rooting:
Wild Card - A's, Cubs
LDS - Cubs, Barves, Sox, Stros
LCS - Barves, Sox
WS - Barves
I wouldn't put more than a $2 bet on that, though.

WmC, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 20:27 (six years ago)

matt holliday is the rockies' starting left fielder tonight

mookieproof, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 20:50 (six years ago)

If they can get past tomorrow, I wouldn't be shocked if the Yankees go on to win it all. They've got two starters who are sometimes among the game's best, and Happ is an okay #3 with run support. Chapman's dominant most of the time. I don't know about their middle relief. Most of all, though, they've got guys who hit home runs #1 through #8 or #9. Home runs are at a premium in the post-season, and barring a team slump, they'll be very hard to keep to fewer than three runs. Boston outscored them by 20 runs, but I'm wondering if the Yankees had a more consistent offense.

They could also be finished tomorrow.

clemenza, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 21:44 (six years ago)

Chapman's dominant most of the time.

Chapman 1.9 bWAR

I don't know about their middle relief.

Betances 1.8 bWAR
Green 1.8 bWAR
Robertson 1.5 bWAR

they added Britton as well.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 21:50 (six years ago)

rooting for brewers all the way

predictions:

NLWC: Cubs
NLDS: Brewers, Dodgers
NLCS: Brewers

ALWC: A's
ALDS: Red Sox, Astros
ALCS: Red Sox

WS: Red Sox

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 21:54 (six years ago)

good man

would love for the Crew to win it all in Yankee stadium and then dedicate the victory to Derek Jeter

frogbs, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 21:57 (six years ago)

NLWC: Cubbies
NLDS: Cubbies v. Doyers
NLCS: Doyers

ALWC: Stanks
ALDS: Sawx, Stros
ALCS: Stros

WS: Stros

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:03 (six years ago)

If I'm thinking predictions instead of preferences, I'll guess:

WC: As, Rox
LDS: Brewers, Dodgers, Sox, Stros
LCS: Brewers, Sox
WS: Sox

I do think Atlanta can make it an interesting series against LA with some pitching luck and if Ozzie gets his head in the game by Thursday, but he's swinging at every fucking thing right now.

WmC, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 22:28 (six years ago)

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 23:29 (six years ago)

Morbs, I won't have a postseason without you posting here. Nuh huh. It's important to me.

A's are my preferences, with Brewers and Stros not far behind.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 23:41 (six years ago)

Also really into Cubs blowing it tonight.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 00:11 (six years ago)

Really glad Cubs went with their starter with the worst xfip, very moneyball.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 00:13 (six years ago)

Took only seven pitches for Lester to be mad at the umpire and mound.

Andy K, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 00:15 (six years ago)

i have an acceptable feed

surely mlb.tv still blacks out live postseason unless you have a cable sub

as u may know there's a 'statheadcast' on ESPN2

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 00:19 (six years ago)

Lester beat the Rocks in his only start against them at home this year 5.2 IP, 2 ER

timellison, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 00:22 (six years ago)

Yeah id so much rather we play the Rockies here

Top seed having to play the WC winner is odd. The WC teams are likely to have a better record than the worst division winner, right?

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 00:25 (six years ago)

don't know about likely

Did ESPN ever used a good song for their postseason montages?

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 02:38 (six years ago)
