HR: SanĂ³ 2 (4, 3rd inning off Harvey 0 on, 2 Out, 7th inning off Ramirez 1 on, 2 Out); Kepler (10, 7th inning off Allen 1 on, 2 Out); Rosario (14, 8th inning off Allen 0 on, 1 Out); Schoop 2 (10, 2nd inning off Harvey 2 on, 1 Out, 7th inning off Ramirez 0 on, 2 Out); Cron (13, 3rd inning off Harvey 0 on, 1 Out); Polanco (9, 2nd inning off Harvey 1 on, 2 Out)

The @Twins have tied the record for most HRs thru the first 49 games of a season, with 98.

They need 4 today to match the 2000 Mariners' record for most thru 50 https://t.co/zjgbTvPP7w pic.twitter.com/gz4XzkKQue

two weeks pass...

With that Marwin Gonzalez double, every hitter on the Twins' active roster now has an OPS above the MLB average.

feel like they will definitely win the division, as that's the only way for their postseason to consist solely of losing to the yankees

mookieproof, Tuesday, 13 August 2019 21:17 (six years ago)

today the WC winner would play NYY (1.5 ahead of HOU)

Among whatever other records they set this year, I wonder if they'll be the first team ever to get 20+ HR out of every single position (DH included)? If you go by the nine guys with the most AB, the three positions that come in under 20 are second, short, and center. But:

2B - Schoop has 17, all while playing 2B; Aarez has one; Adrianza has one; Gonzalez has one.
SS - Polanco has 19; Adrianza has one.
CF - Buxton has 10 in 82 games, all CF; Kepler's hit 13 playing center.

I assume the other six positions are all over 20, since the main guy at each position has 20+ for the season.

Anyway, they did it (and today strung together four against-the-shift hits in one inning).

The worst OPS in the lineup today is .795

I thought the tigers had managed this 10-15 years ago?

I checked, and apparently not.
Not sure what was thinking about.

gonna hit 300 HR

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Monday, 2 September 2019 18:34 (six years ago)

Schoop now has 21 homeruns. Only home run left from the SS position and they have 20+ for each position.

Total baseball.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 2 September 2019 18:40 (six years ago)

Thermo, you might have been thinking about the 2005 Rangers.
