OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- The Oakland Athletics are set to offer a special broadcast to fans who appreciate the game's analytics side.
On Thursday, the A's will feature simultaneous audio broadcasts for a game against Texas: their traditional broadcast as well as a "data-driven" version on A's Cast. The team announced the plan Monday, saying that A's general manager David Forst and scouting assistant Ben Lowry would be special guests on the streaming broadcast.

khris davis is gonna have to rally these last 2 months to get to his .247
― johnny crunch, Wednesday, 24 July 2019 12:14 (five years ago)
Too expensive, unfortunately.

(Unless you're American--sells for $24.70!)
― clemenza, Wednesday, 21 August 2019 11:17 (five years ago)
doesn't look like he's going to make it to .247 this season unfortunately. he's having a pretty bad year.
― na (NA), Wednesday, 21 August 2019 14:23 (five years ago)
If his playing time stays about the same, he'd have to hit almost .350 the rest of the way. The funny thing is, if he were having a great season, hitting .300 say, he'd have the same problem in reverse.

mike fiers has had a weird career
Mike Fiers has gone 21 starts in a row without a loss (started with his no-hitter). He's 11-0 with a 2.59 ERA in that stretch. A's are 16-4 (and lead a suspended game).— David Schoenfield (@dschoenfield) September 4, 2019
― mookieproof, Wednesday, 4 September 2019 15:29 (five years ago)
Somebody in our (ILB) fantasy league dropped him right at the start of that stretch, thank you again whomever that was.
― Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 4 September 2019 15:38 (five years ago)
Here is yesterday's story, with comments from Luzardo about his first ML callup: A's to call up top prospect Jesús Luzardo; Matt Harvey won't join team https://t.co/fXoMYAKXHE— Susan Slusser (@susanslusser) September 9, 2019

Yeah, I was on the fence about starting him in our fantasy league (RB had him at 49% start) but holy fuck was that a meltdown.

Oaktoon
People sleeping on A's? 13-2 last two weeks. 10-4 v HOU/NYY home and home last month. 71-35 since May 16-- best record in MLB. Manaea 18IP 6 H 1 R. Laureano healthy again. Puk and Luzardo up. Why can't they win the AL?
Jay Jaffe12:40In a short series, anything can happen, and it's not out of the question that they win the AL, but the odds suggest they have to beat both the Astros and Yankees to get to the World Series, which is a very tall order.

Exciting to see Luzardo up there

these guys hit a ton of HRs too, they just don't have the same name recognition. 5th in MLB behind the Twins, Yanks, Astros, and Dodgers.
― omar little, Monday, 16 September 2019 21:29 (five years ago)
They beat their single season home run record yesterday. (maybe not a big deal in 2019 lol)
― brimstead, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 00:15 (five years ago)
every team's HR totals this year are going to need an asterisk

It is absolutely a big deal when you consider their history:

Lead the AL in HRs twice (once was in Boston and the other a strike year).
― earlnash, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 01:57 (five years ago)
we don’t disagree, Albert, I was just bad-jokingly referring to the high number of home runs/“asterisk” narrative alluded to by The Cursed
― brimstead, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 03:31 (five years ago)
You're welcome! His first start of the season was good, but by the end of April he had something like a 6.50 ERA and was unplayable.
It is unlikely, but then again, it happened just last year.
― NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 12:30 (five years ago)
Homer Bailey. Again.
― timellison, Thursday, 19 September 2019 02:59 (five years ago)
Lots of "Marcus Semien for MVP" press. He's a hair behind Bregman for 2nd in AL bWAR.
I'd prefer WS MVP.

That Mike Trout might not get MVP is absolutely crazy to me.

Who do we think they start in the wild card? Bassit?
― Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 24 September 2019 17:38 (five years ago)
Loving seeing Homer having a comeback and finally just being healthy again. If Bailey is getting movement on his fastball, he is pretty hard to hit. He still throws hard. I'd love to see him have one really great year where he puts it all together and top it off with a third no no. That would be classic.
