  • degrom hit 102 last night
  • meet the new bullpen
  • jeff mcneil also thinks the vax is a personal decision; talk to him, alonso
  • guillorme's throw was bad, but mccann still should have caught it
  • missed keith going 'mmm'
  • wish i didn't have to watch them on my computer using a vpn

mookieproof, Tuesday, 6 April 2021 22:32 (four years ago)

been making me a tinge sad that morbs will never get to see lindor in a mets jersey, but i appreciate them remaining a continued source of amusement. keep it up boys

hbp blown-call walkoff, appropriate for a mets/marlins game

2 fewer innings for the bullpen to blow it for degrom

THE BOYHOOD DREAM HAS COME TRUE

, Saturday, 17 April 2021 23:39 (four years ago)

Painfully familiar indeed. Only the Mets would lose to a very depleted Phillies lineup by way of a wild pitch strikeout of the pitcher that ending up scoring the 2 decisive runs.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 1 May 2021 02:46 (four years ago)

Alvarado and Hoskins trying to start brawls with Smith and Castro was the insult on top of the cake, even had Ron Darling wishing the Mets would have given to the rage.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 1 May 2021 02:49 (four years ago)

Ok maybe some karma for Alvarado and Hoskins tonight. Crazy game.

Michael F Gill, Monday, 3 May 2021 03:11 (four years ago)

that ball bounced back like a homer imo

mookieproof, Monday, 3 May 2021 05:11 (four years ago)

mets getting a ridic amount of dumb ump calls in their favor so far this year. morbs pulling strings upstairs or mlb bending over backwards to keep mets competitive. rojas is not exactly making me forget the shit for brains callaway years with his bullpen management. weird roster

Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 12 May 2021 02:31 (four years ago)

Is Lindor Jason Bay 2.0? It's still early (it better be), but damn, he is lost.

Deicide at Chuck E. Cheese (PBKR), Monday, 17 May 2021 23:46 (four years ago)

He's walking a good amount and not striking out much. He rates pretty well in exit velocity and barrels. I think he'll figure it out but it's definitely been rough.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 18 May 2021 00:23 (four years ago)

I also feel there is something about coming to the NY market that is a shift. But yeah, he hasn't hit well so far. His defense has been good though.

Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 18 May 2021 01:35 (four years ago)

God, just saw Pillar in the dugout tonight and cringed. Looks brutal and glad he seems ok (aside from nasal fractures).

i love lindor and even tho he's a met i still have a hard time rooting for him to fail, but his slash numbers have been pretty concerning for a bit now even dating back to last season. his SLG percentage has fallen off a cliff and if he's not providing elite power at that position he's kinda just... a high AVG/low OBP shortstop getting into his 30s... it feels pretty dicey to me longterm. they really need him to be an MVP level player for the next 4-5 years because the back half of that contract is gonna be ugly given the type of player he is

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 19 May 2021 05:12 (four years ago)

'i love lindor but nevertheless i must bury him'

too soon

mookieproof, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 05:16 (four years ago)

Over the last ten games he is batting .278/.341/.500, 132 wrc+

More or less, that’s the slash line of his best batting season.

Jacob deGrom is throwing 102 MPH...

Someone send help.

— Palm Beach Cardinals (@GoPBCardinals) May 20, 2021

Karl Malone, Friday, 21 May 2021 15:35 (four years ago)

deGrom needs his own thread:

ERA 0.71 IP 51.0 SO 82 WHIP 0.57

He is 9-for-20 at the plate this season, and he’s allowed only 22 hits in 51 innings on the mound. Put it another way:

Jacob deGrom's season:
4 runs, 3 RBI as a hitter (9-for-20, .450)
4 runs allowed in 51 innings as a pitcher.

— Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) June 1, 2021

Vin Jawn (PBKR), Tuesday, 1 June 2021 11:25 (four years ago)

deGrom is going to do what Kluber and Donaldson looked like they might do (but almost certainly won't now): get into the HOF on an astounding peak value after the age of 27.

clemenza, Tuesday, 1 June 2021 15:23 (four years ago)

He still needs to play 3 more years to be eligible, and may need a Cy young / no hitter / post season heroics along the way to really seal the deal. But he is definitely on the path.

Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 1 June 2021 15:50 (four years ago)

You think he needs another cy young?! He could tread water the next three years and I think he’d skate into the hall no problem.
I don’t like his odds of playoffs heroics with the Mets!

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 1 June 2021 17:31 (four years ago)

gary said on the broadcast that the most run support degrom has ever received in the 1st inning for a game at citifield was the 6 that the rangers gave him last night. that's been blown up elsewhere as "the most run support degrom has ever gotten at citifield is 6 runs"

i wasn't here for the degrom era but boy he looks good despite 2 TJs

andy martino reporting that coaching changes are coming

i can't back it up with stats really but i feel like hefner's gotta go. well i did try and see if i could quantify it this morning. doesn't seem total # of pitches thrown by team exists as a stat but bref has a number of pitches thrown per inning and fox sports (!) has a pitches per game stat. mets are in the top three. i don't think throwing the 3rd most pitches per game is good with how many injuries they've had. just my opinion!

probably already well documented on this board but i didn't know this:

Britton: I want to point you to two paragraphs I wrote about Cohen when he bought the team in 2020.

First, the minor pet peeve: Steve Cohen is not a lifetime fan of the Mets.

“Although Cohen has talked up his own personal Mets fandom, several people who have known him for a long time recall him more as a general sports fan or as a Yankees fan. Knicks games have been a more popular social occasion for Cohen than trips to the ballpark, and he even traveled to Indianapolis one year to watch the Knicks play the Pacers in a postseason series in the late 1990s. It’s Cohen’s wife, Alex, who registers more as the Mets diehard in the family.”

Had extremely Mets conversation about the Mets in NYC

(At the Frick)

Me: This is the most beautiful museum
Museum assistant: I just love that painting, the light in it
(I engage in a brief conversation about whether she ever gets bored working at the museum - she doesn’t - and so on before I’m like)
…So where in New York are you from?
Museum assistant: Brooklyn
Me: ah so…do you support a baseball team?
(A cloud VISIBLY passes over her face)
Museum assistant: I used to be a Mets fan but they kept trading my favourite players

It seemed like a sore subject so I thanked her for being nice and I left it but I was so curious. Is she talking recently, like Pete Alonso? Beltran? Someone else?!
