the astros’ record against the sox this year shows them comprehensively better at everything but this is october. i know people love hating on the red sox but if any team deserves to lose and have their dreams dashed this year it’s houston so bring it on. nobody expected these sox to amount to much of anything. i love kyle schwarber. i love raffy. i love christian arroyo. tanner houck is mr steal your girl and the first pitcher i can remember since cc sabathia who wears his cap down low over his eyes like a gunslinger. i love him. i love kiké hernandez. can’t stand j.d., i still think of bobby dalbec as a large adult son who’s going to be washed up by the time he’s 25, renfro’s okay but dumb as a box of rocks, verdugo starting to look that way too… i dunno man. this is i think demonstrably the worst red sox team to make the alcs and i am sad we’re not seeing wander and randy but i’m going to soak up every minute of it.

Agree that letting Betts get away--a face-of-the-franchise player if there ever was one--was symbolically terrible; in a cold, hard, business sense, it unfortunately seems to have worked out for them, at least this year.

mookie in general i watch these the next day (removing this bookmark now…) but i’m going to skip last night’s because game 2 starts at 9pm my time. one full-length postseason game per day is enough for anybody i think. the nice thing about watching on delay is skipping the ad breaks! very much enjoying the WEEI audio on MLB.TV as well (no blackouts if you’re international)

I turned this game on at the bar where I was working a private event, and we served drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert, then shot the shit a few minutes and divided up tips and now I'm back home and it's STILL only the end of the 4th! Jeez!

I though a Red Sox-Braves WS might be the fewest combined wins ever (180), but I found at least one with fewer: 1973 A's/Mets (176).

This game was only 3 hours 16 minutes, which is short for a postseason game. I didn’t even have time to finish the marathon I was running. Geez.

Braves vs Red Sox would be a first time meeting between two of the original 16 franchises, that alone makes it an interesting matchup (not to mention the Braves' history in Boston).

Don't notice the same thing with Correa or (especially, because I see him a lot) Springer. Which is why I wonder if I'm projecting a bit: Altuve was pretty much my favourite player during his "I literally love Justin Verlander!" peak.

I think Boston and ATL would also on a TV feature side to feature something about Babe Ruth and the pandemic world series of 1918 and something on the late Hank Aaron. There would be things for the talking heads to discuss outside the match up.

I'm ok with Houston in the WS, during the regular season they were the scariest team in the AL, and as dynasties go they're more likeable than most,even taking into account trashcan and other possible forms of cheating.
