Has anyone seen a game from the Green Monster seats? Any idea what they're being scalped for (apparently it requires a pre-season lottery just to get tickets!)?

I went once last year. They are great. Start at $90. Scalpers probably get $150 and up.

quite worth it in my opinion. never been but would love to someday (when travelling into the u.s. doesn't involve being fingerprinted + stripped).

$150 isn't as bad as I expected.

I was thinking of doing the NYC pilgrimage late this summer, but I might do Boston instead. Much as I dislike modern baseball, I've got to see a game at Fenway before they change it or (God forbid) tear it down.

So if they did decide to tear down Fenway for a modern stadium, are we talking rioting in the streets in Boston?

milo, is it mostly the four hour games you hate so much about modern baseball? i can't believe someone who loves the baker bowl could dislike home runs too much.

and it's only a matter of time before fenway goes. henry et al are all about maximizing revenue. they probably won't lower ticket prices either...the good thing is they're pretty classy, and their changes to fenway so far have managed to both make it more fan friendly and put a nice profit in their pockets (from what i've seen, anyway).

Yeah, mostly the four hour games and just crappy pitching in general. I don't mind offense, when it comes as a real explosion.

The Baker Bowl wasn't as much of a HR paradise as it seems, though (not so bad as the Polo Grounds) - that 60ft wall did crazy things.

i thought it was the greatest HR park ever? i'll have to check up on that. i also didn't think the polo grounds was the huge hitter's park it seems it would be.

here's a little something: http://espn.go.com/mlb/columns/schwarz_alan/1583566.html

i'm guessing the baker bowl's park index rocketed up with the advent of the lively ball, but the article doesn't make clear its effect on home runs. also, compare coor's field (at 155) to these guys. i had no idea the difference between it and other hitter's parks was that vast.
